My headphones sound different
WebI noticed that when I record/mix/EQ on my headphones vs. monitors they sound different. Is it better to use one over the other to get the "true" sound of the recording? I want to avoid messing up the EQing and mixing if one option has certain frequency bias over the other. Monitors: Yamaha HS5's Headphones: AHT M50-X Web19 sep. 2024 · If you checked previous suggestions. - checking your own ears (switching earbuds left<>right) - checking if your media player/sound card have sound balanced (same level for left and right ear) - checking if its not clogged. It may very well be just plain simple failure of hardware.

WebIt is normal to some extend that things sound different in different monitoring environments. You need to be willing to trust your headphones, if those are your main form of monitoring. I produce/mix on phones exclusively and I get good results across the board. Maybe you just need better/different headphones. I use AKG 701/702s.
